The Graenlendinga Saga or
Greenland saga is the probably the best source of
historically accurate information we have concerning the
Vikings exploits to America and the settlements which they
established. Although none of the sagas really tell us what
the outcome of these settlements were, they do provide
conclusive proof that the process did occur and in fact were
instrumental in the pin pointing of the settlement at L'Anse
Aux Meadows. Originally the sagas were oral history passed
down form generation to generation but as with Homer's Iliad
this process when finally put to paper turned out to be
surprisingly accurate when tested with other surviving proof
of the stories which are told. Each of the stories is listed above although not all of the sagas are included. Those that do not tell the story of the Greenland Vikings sighting or landing or decisions to sail to America are not included here.
