The Political development starts with the first contact between Europeans and the Indigenous peoples of North America. From this point the Europeans created maps to display their claims and control over ever increasing areas across the country. Colonial boundarys and claims transitioned into responsible and regional authorities and finally into Canadian Confederation and the assignment of provincial borders.
