The Arms of Canada, containing the Arms of England, Scotland and Ireland and the Arms of royalist France in the first and second divisions of the shield, and the emblem of Canada in the third division, symbolize Canada's national sovereignty as a monarchy. The emblems in the first and second divisions show that the arms are derived from the ancient kingdoms of England, France, Scotland and Ireland and also exemplify the fact that men and women of these countries contributed to the settlement and early development of Canada.
